I thought blush looked so cheesy, like clownish.  Also because I wore such heavy eye makeup there was no place for blush in my life.  I'm still blonde, tan, nude lips but now only with lashes, I drown out. I needed something and recently found a compromise, just a sweep, tap of blush equals awake. X
